Johnny Depp, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor was not his usual self at the Hollywood Film Awards ceremony that was held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Friday.

While presenting an award for the best documentary to "Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon," Depp was hardly able to say much and whatever he said, was either slurred or inappropriate.

Depp sounded more like "Jack Sparrow" fumbling with the mic saying this is the "weirdest microphone I've ever seen in my life".

"I'm not very good at this kind of thing," he admitted to the crowd and broke into a slur of expletives before CBS blanked the screen out.

Depp's unusual behaviour didn't just surprise the audience in the vicinity but triggered off a buzz on the Internet as well. Viewers took to Twitter to have a go at the actor.

Kristen Stewart also had a wardrobe malfunction during the event while giving away an award and the fact that ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson was in the know would have made it more awkward for the "twilight" star.

The Hollywood Film Awards is the harbinger of the award season. For the past 18 years, the ceremony was kept away from the public eye privy only to the celebrity world, but the show went live yesterday for the first time on CBS. Queen Latifah was the gracious host of the show.
