Here's the weirdest story of the week. A certain "alien city" has been discovered on the surface of the moon via a NASA photo, and that's from a prominent UFO researcher.

However, unlike other such wild theories on the Internet, this new discovery seems a bit different, owing to its location. The discovery was made from some new NASA photos and any so-called UFO enthusiast can easily locate this bizarre find and check it out for themselves.

Apparently, the image has turned up on the Google Earth app, via the mostly overlooked feature of the app known as Google Moon. Although many Google users aren't aware of the feature, it is indeed available under the "View" menu and "Explore" sub-menu on the Google Earth software.

"The Moon mode in Google Earth was released on the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing on July 20, 2009," NASA explains on the space agency's site. "Much like the Mars mode, this allows a user to transform the blue and green ball of Google Earth into the Moon, and explore our nearest celestial neighbour as a world in its own right."

To locate the "alien city" on the surface of the moon, just open the Google Moon application and enter the following coordinates in the "search" field: 28°10'30.12″N 22°42'5.99″W.

According to the YouTube page for the video, the discovery was made by famous UFO researcher Marcelo Irazusta, who has been credited with numerous similar discoveries in the past. More light were shed on the discovery by Scott C Waring, editor of the popular blog UFO Sightings Daily.

"These alien structures are just freaking amazing! Look at the detail of this pyramid like white structure on the edge of the map. It's no wonder NASA covered it up, because there is a whole lot of structures in this area, probably a very large city on the surface," Waring wrote on his blog.

"These structures were found by Sandra Elena Andrade of Youtube. I had to go back and look for myself and it was big! I took the above screenshots on Google Moon. How much is NASA lying about? It's all been a lie. This my friends is the real deal here," Waring continued.

You can check out the video below and the coordinates above to determine the validity of the discovery yourself.
