The possibility of a Housefull 4 was always there and the makers had even dropped a major hint about it at the success party of the third one. After reports of Sajid Khan returning to the franchise surfaced, news of who would play the lead roles in the fourth instalment began doing the rounds.

"Sajid Nadiadwala and Khan have decided to retain Akshay and Riteish for the fourth instalment from the primary star cast and will sign new actors for the film," a source told the Asian Age. However, Sajid said it was too early to comment on the casting, adding that the makers haven't zeroed in on any actor yet.

Meanwhile, there has been strong buzz that Sajid doesn't want rumoured, ex-girlfriend, Jacqueline Fernandez to be part of the Housefull franchise this time around. The leading lady has been in all of the 3 films.

Why did Sajid walk out of the franchise?

Sajid had a major fallout with producer Sajid Nadiadwala after the former declared that Housefull 1 & 2 revived Akshay Kumar's career, which didn't go down well with the producer. "One regret in life is that I shouldn't have fought with my best friend Sajid Nadiadwala. I think he also regrets it. Nadiadwala and me are like soul brothers," the director said.

All said and done, the stage may be set for Housefull 4, but it will take time for the film to be hit pre-production stage. Akshay, when hinting at the instalment, had said that such films take time to make and it will be at least another year or more before they begin the fourth part of the successful franchise.
