It was hoped that the boxing match could have taken place with the Super Boxing League (SBL), an IPL like pro boxing competition, spearheaded by well-known British boxer Amir, whose roots are in Pakistan, as well as Bill Dosanjh, the promoter of Super Fight League (SFL) MMA in India being interested.

However, Vijender's promoters IOS Boxing Promotions, have ruled out any participation of the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Champion, in the SBL, scheduled for a July 7 start.

A possibility of a Vijender Singh-Amir Khan showdown could have taken place, but there's no chance of the fight happening right now. "We never had any discussion with the promoters of SBL on Vijender Singh fighting in their league," said Neerav Tomar, chief of IOS Boxing Promotions.

"Hence, the possibility of Vijender fighting Amir Khan in the SBL does not arise."

A total of eight franchises will be seen in the SBL, with each team consisting of six players (5 men and 1 woman).

As for Vijender's next fight, the IOS are still in the lookout for an opponent for the star Indian pugilist. He could be expected to fight again in India following the end of IPL 2017.
