Dual camera smartphones are the new trend and Huawei's isn't the one to be left out of the race. The company's online sub-brand Honor is going to make an important announcement about a new smartphone as early as next month.

Huawei has a respectable reputation when it comes to offering the best camera smartphones, and its dual lens cameras have been perceived well by consumers and critics alike. Now, it's time to step up the game.

Huawei is expected to launch its fourth generation dual camera technology with Honor 8 Pro in India in the first week of July. The information comes from a reputed source, Allen Wang, Director of Product Center at Huawei India Consumer Business Group, who also revealed to The Mobile Indian that "the smartphone will come with a competitive price and it will be available through online channels."

Dual camera phones are usually a part of flagship smartphones, which are unlikely to be priced competitively. But brands like OnePlus and Huawei make such premium phones affordable and generate a good response from emerging markets such as India.

While the Honor 8 Pro's pricing and availability remain a mystery, its specs are not. The handset's international availability gives us a peek into the phone's features. The Honor 8 Pro's biggest highlight is the camera setup, which combines two 12MP f/2.2 aperture lenses at the back and has an 8MP front snapper for selfies.

Honor 8 Pro sports a relatively large 5.7-inch QHD LTPS LCD display, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a bezel-less screen. It is powered by the company's own Kirin 960 octa-core processor paired with 6GB RAM and comes with either 64GB or 128GB storage options. There's a microSD card slot to add more storage as well.

Under the hood, the handset packs a 4,000mAh battery and supports 4G LTE, dual SIM cards, NFC and USB Type-C transfers. The interface is simplified by Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1.

Another interesting aspect of the Honor 8 Pro is its retail packaging, which can be turned into a Google Cardboard viewer for virtual reality experience. In Europe, the handset is priced at €549 (roughly Rs. 38,100), which means the Honor 8 Pro will be competing against the likes of OnePlus 5, which is due for release on June 20
