Japanese auto maker Honda is all geared up to launch its first MPV Mobilio in India with much fanfare in July. Now the latest news that has surfaced online is that Honda is not just bringing its Mobilio to the fast growing Indian market, but also the sporty variant of Mobilio, Mobilio RS.

If rumours are to be believed, the Mobilio RS launch is likely to happen around September – October this year, that is few months after the launch of Mobilio. Mobilio RS, a cosmetically upgraded variant of Mobilio has been getting attention of the auto world since its launch in few international markets. Although the company has not confirmed the launch of the vehicle for India, rumours are exceptionally strong that the car will reach Indian shores too.

Mobilio RS, which is already on sale in Indonesia, gets new sporty front and rear bumper along with LED projector headlamps and chrome finishing fog lamps. In addition to this, the RS variant of Mobilio is also upgraded with aerodynamic kit, roof mounted spoiler and 15 inch full alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the MPV accommodates new features like 6.1 inch touchscreen audio system, reverse parking camera, steering mounted controls and gets faux wood garnish and leather upholstery. As the model comes loaded with additional features, Mobilio RS is priced little higher than the normal Mobilio.

In Indonesia, the new Mobilio RS is offered in seven colours – Crystal Black Pearl, Bronze Metallic Ionized, Brilliant Gold Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl and Alabaster Silver Metallic and is retailed at a price point of 203.5 million Rupiah (approximately ₹10.19 lakhs). So the Mobilio lovers in India may also have to spend a little more than regular model to get hold onto the RS variant when it reaches here.

The Mobilio will see the light of the day in India by the end of this month. Reports suggest that the dealers of Honda have started accepting the booking for Mobilio with a token amount of ₹51,000. The Indian specific version of Mobilio will be offered in both petrol and diesel options and will be pegged against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia.

Under the hood, its petrol model will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117 bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98 bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version is likely to give 18 kmpl.

The Mobilio is expected to fall in the price range of ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
