Honda Mobilio Rival Renault Lodgy Spied For the First Time in India

Renault's upcoming MPV Lodgy has been spied testing in the country in a disguised avatar again, this time from Chennai, indicating an imminent arrival of the car.

Just recently it was confirmed that the French auto-maker Renault will bring its new Lodgy to India next year. Though the company has not revealed the exact launch details, it looks like the Lodgy will make its India entry in early 2014.

Lodgy, Renault's answer to Honda Mobilio mainly has been on the Indian roads for quite some time and the car snapped earlier too.

The latest spy shots come from the folks at Indian AutosBlog, who caught the car on test in Chennai. Though these pictures tell us nothing new about the upcoming Lodgy, from the spy shots seen earlier and the leaked reports we have a vague idea about the India-bound Lodgy.

Lodgy, which is already on sales in Ukraine market is likely to get power from 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine in India and is expected to give two states of tune.

Previous reports have indicated that the vehicle will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan production facility at Oragadam in Chennai and it appears true as most of the spy shots come from that vicinity.

Currently, other details of the vehicle are scanty; however, there is a rumour that Lodgy will get a price tag in the range of ₹8-11 lakh in India. The vehicle will also be rivalling Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Enjoy in India besides Mobilio.

In India, Renault is also expected to launch its all-wheel-drive Duster in coming weeks. Renault Duster 4×4 has been spied testing in the country numerous time and is expected to make its debut during this festive season.

Globally, Duster 4×4 is sold with diesel and petrol engines. The diesel model is powered by K9K 1.5-litre four-cylinder eight-valve diesel engine, which can generate a power of 107hp and peak torque of 240nm. The petrol version is powered by a 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine, which offers a max power of 105hp and peak torque of 148nm and both the engines come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

From what we have heard, in India, Renault will be launching only the diesel variant of the new Duster and the model promises a mileage of 19.72kmpl.
