Japanese auto maker Honda is reportedly set to bring its new MPV Mobilio to India on 23 July, claims new reports.
Honda Mobilio, the Maruti Ertiga killer has been in the news for quite sometimes now. Although the company has confirmed that the Mobilio will reach Indian shores in July this year, the exact launch date of the vehicle have been kept in the dark. Now a report by Carwale hints that the Mobilio launch could happen on 23 July.
Underpinning Honda's popular Brio hatchback, Mobilio, Honda's first offering in the MPV segment in India was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The vehicle will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in the country. Under the hood, the petrol model of the car will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117 bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98 bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version is likely to give 18 kmpl.
Seated on a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, the Honda's MPV offering measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,610 mm in height. Although the official booking has not started yet, some dealers of the company have started accepting the booking with a token amount of ₹51,000.
Honda is likely to price its new MPV in ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom) range and when launched, the car will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia in India.
In a latest development, Honda India reported 75 percent increase in the domestic sales at 16,316 units in June. The company sold 1,438 units of its small car Brio, 7,075 units of Amaze sedan and 7,723 units of the City sedan in June 2014.
