It is no secret that Honda is readying a new compact Brio-based SUV. The latest buzz is that the company has imported three units of the compact SUV into India from Thailand.

The folks at Indian Autos Blog via Zauba.com, which keeps track of India's imports and exports, reveal that Honda has imported three units of the SUV codenamed '2SJ'. The imports could be for testing purpose, if online buzz is to be believed.

There is little information about the new Honda Brio SUV aka 2SJ, since the model in its initial stages of development. Though it is expected to get Brio-inspired styling, reports indicate that the SUV will take a different shape altogether.

The new SUV will not fall under the sub-4 metre category and we also hear that the Brio SUV is likely to be a seven-seater model. If this is true, the upcoming Honda SUV will be competing against the likes of Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.

Under the hood, the Brio SUV aka 2SJ is likely to get 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine with manual transmission.

Chances are that the concept model Brio SUV could make its debut at Auto Expo 2016, with a market launch in early 2017.
