Honda BR-V SUV is slated to make its entry in the Indian market on May 5 and the dealers of the company have already started accepting the bookings for the upcoming model. A lot has been written about the BR-V SUV and what is actually left to see is its price tag.

Now, ahead of the BR-V launch in the country, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen says that the SUV will be priced competitively in the market. The BR-V, which would compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, will be manufactured at the company's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

"Though the exact pricing would be announced next month, one thing I can say right now is that we would price it very competitively," Press Trust of India quoted Sen as saying.

Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, the BR-V will be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that develops 120bhp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm at 4,600rpm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Based on the same platform as that of the Brio hatchback, the Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV, the BR-V measures 4,453mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,666mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2,655mm.

The BR-V is expected to come with safety features such as dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).
