Auto major Honda has registered over 6,000 bookings of its all new Amaze sedan within days of its launch, indicating the overwhelming demand for the vehicle in the subcontinent.

Honda Amaze dealers were said to have received a number of enquiries all across the country about the new vehicle. Taking note of the rising demand, the company has reportedly decided on a two-month waiting period for the vehicle in some cities.

Honda Amaze, a strong competitor to current market leaders like Maruti's Swift DZire, is expected to cross the 10,000 booking mark in the next two days. The vehicle was launched India on 11 April in both petrol and diesel variants and is aggressively priced in the market.

The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine and is expected to give a fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl. The diesel variant, developed specifically for the Indian market, comes with a 1.5 i-DTEC engine. This model is expected to give a fuel efficiency of 25.8 kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient diesel car in the Indian market.

The base petrol variant comes for ₹4.99 lakh and the top two variants are priced ₹6.62 lakh and ₹7.5 lakh. The middle variants of the petrol model are priced between ₹5.62 lakh and ₹6.60 lakh. The diesel variants are priced as high as ₹7.60 lakh.
