Honda Car India has confirmed the relaunch of its luxury sedan, the Accord in the country in 2016. Ahead of the launch the vehicle will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 to be held in Greater Noida in February.

A report in IndianAutosBlog claims that Raman Kumar Sharma, Sr. Vice President and Director, General Affairs, Honda Cars India, said that the market launch of the Accord will take place next year.

In its ninth generation, the Honda Accord will be offered in 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and 3.5-litre V6 engine options in the country. Both the engine options were available with a 5-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual. The Accord Hybrid that comes with 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine along with 124 kW electric motor produces a combined output of 196bhp may also debut in India.

The new Accord on sale in USA comes with newly designed front end that includes new headlight and grille. The taillight clusters comes with LED tech, 19-inch alloy wheels and tweaked front and rear bumpers are part of package. The interior will sport a 7-inch touchscreen display audio and heated rear seats.

The Accord, which was part of the Indian roads for almost 5 years since its entry into the market in 2008, was forced to retire from the sub-continent market owing to the poor sales. The hefty price tag and the absence of diesel Accord resulted in the failure of the sedan in the Indian market.
