The India hockey team colts put up a mesmerising performance against Bangladesh to win the U18 Asia Cup 2016 hockey tournament on Friday. The final score was 5-4 at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka.

A thriller of the highest order, the match lived up to the expectations of being a fitting finale. The hosts drew the opening blood in the match but an instant reaction from India saw the equaliser coming in just two minutes' span.

It was a 1-1 draw as the teams went for half time.

Action of the highest order was waiting to take place in the second half and it was India all over the hockey turf as they scored a flurry of goals to make up the score 3-2 in favour of them in no time. Bangladesh then upped their ante and soon made the score 3-3.

Yet again, India took the lead and Bangladesh levelled the score. However, with less than 20 seconds on the clock and the score locked at 4-4, it was BJ Kariappa's side who provided magic. The goal came right at the death, dashing the hopes of the home fans and attracting the loudest of cheers possible from the Indian hockey fans present at the venue.

India vice captain Hardik Singh was named the Man of the Match.
