A report claiming that Rockstar is all set to release "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2" in 2015 is nothing, but a hoax.
The fake news that was published in Grand Times stated that the Rockstar made the surprising announcement at the Playstation Experience event in Las Vegas, the day after The Game Awards.
It is now established that the Grand Times is a "satirical" news site. As per a report in Epoch Times "GrandTimes is a satire news publication" and all events mentioned in their stories are entirely fictional.
The bogus report, however, soon went viral on social media with eager fans sharing the news on Facebook and Twitter multiple times. Soon "San Andreas 2″ even started trending on worldwide trends list on Twitter.
The hoax report stated:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2 has finally been confirmed this week after Rockstar made the surprising announcement at the Playstation Experience event in Las Vegas, the day after The Game Awards. The game will take place in 1999, 7 years after the events of San Andreas. CJ will return as the main character, again being voiced by Young Maylay.
During a brief gameplay demonstration shown to a select few journalists at the event, single player mode was shown off on the Playstation 4 console. Several elements that players will be making a return.
Like the first game, players can eat at Cluckin' Bell and get fat, then work it all off at the gym and put on some muscle. With next gen graphics the results can be humorous and disturbing at the same time.
The fact that Rockstar launched its GTA V in markets just over a year back, should have been a cue to call the hoax as the timing for a new game in the super-successful series would be surprising to say the least, a BBC report noted.
However, many fell for the joke as a picture purportedly showing an older, more detailed version of protagonist CJ accompanied a false Rockstar press release, which was then retweeted thousands of times by the eager fans.
