Rumours are rife that Ian Somerhalder's wife is insecure about the possibility of his ex girlfriend and "The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev returning to the show.

Dobrev left the vampire drama in May, and at the time she said she wanted to pursue a new direction in her career. However, because Dobrev is yet to be seen in a major project, speculations swirling around indicate that she might be thinking of coming back on the show.

Recently a CW executive even said that they would love to have Dobrev back on the show.

"We would have loved Nina to stay," CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters at a Television Critics Association panel on Tuesday. "She did a great job for the six years she was on the show. She is welcome back any time she wants to come back."

It is highly unlikely that Dobrev would return to "The Vampire Diaries" anytime soon, but even if she does, then Reed has no reasons to feel insecure as Dobrev has already moved on in life.

Although Dobrev and Somerhalder dated for about three years before calling it quits in 2013, their separation was amicable. They were friends even after the split, and during an earlier interview Dobrev even said she was happy that Somerhalder found his soul mate.

"When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it's not with us. But of course, we're on a teen drama show, everyone's going to look for drama. If there's no drama, there's nothing to write about. I just ignore it," Dobrev told E!News.

Also, Dobrev has also found a new love interest in actor Austin Stowell. Their romance has been heating up all summer, and the duo was also spotted kissing on a number of occasions. Selena Gomez is believed to have played matchmaker and brought the duo together.
