The speculations around "Padmavati" seem to intensify by the minute.

Up until now, it was only about Ranveer Singh being shown the door, Deepika Padukone hiking her fee and A-list actors not wanting to play second fiddle to the actress. As reported by Mid-Day, the latest rumour has it that there's immense confusion over who would produce the ambitious project.

"Padmavati," from what has been written and said about this far, seems to be in complete disarray. If any of what is being reported is true, the makers clearly have not ticked off some very important pointers on their pre-production checklist.

A quick recap of what is the status on "Padmavati"

Ranveer had demanded a script narration after Shahid was pulled on board to play Deepika's onscreen husband in "Padmavati." Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasn't pleased with his request and began approaching other stars who could effortlessly essay shrewd ruler Alauddin Khilji on celluloid.

Apparently, it is just Sanjay's way of making Ranveer realise he isn't irreplaceable. The filmmaker will hold a joint script narration session with Shahid and Ranveer.

Meanwhile, industry insiders have said that Ranveer was being completely reasonable in wanting a copy of the script. Some say, two-hero projects are tricky to work in and so the young star is being careful about "Padmavati."

"To be fair, Ranveer has every right to ask to see the script when there is another hero in the film. Especially because this is the first time he plays a negative character, which goes against his good boy image, while Shahid plays a dashing Indian Raja. Ranveer's insecurity stemmed from there, and he asked for a narration before he started shooting for the film," a source told DNA.

About Deepika hiking her fee is totally acceptable. She has had a string of hits since "Race 2." Commercially and critically acclaimed, the leading lady is on top of her game and can pull off any role with conviction.

Deepika wanted to land a profit-sharing deal for "Padmavati" (something the leading Khans are into) but after the makers refused to agree, she had to settle with Rs. 12 crore.

All of this is a speculation at this point and an official announcement is awaited.
