Fatehabad district police chief Sangeeta Kalia was transferred to Manesar's reserve battalion on Saturday following a heated argument with Haryana Health & Sports Minister Anil Vij on Friday evening, said reports.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reportedly issued the notification on transfer order on Saturday afternoon.

Vij, who was presiding over a public grievances' committee meeting, had walked out after arguing with the woman police officer over liquor smuggling in the district.

When the minister asked SP Kalia about the measures being taken by the police to curb liquor smuggling in the district, she said that they are taking necessary action.

"We are taking action. We have registered over 2,500 cases. Many of these people come out on bail and indulge in smuggling again," IANS quoted Kalia as saying.

Later, the minister alleged that the smuggling was conducted with police patronage. But when SP Kalia objected to this, the infuriated minister asked her to "get out".

However, Kalia decided to stay put and said she was not leaving. Following this, Vij stormed out of the meeting in fury and said he would not come to Fatehabad as long as Kalia was stationed there.

"Her attitude is not good. I had taken up the matter with her two or three times but her approach was very casual," Vij told the media.
