A Grey's Anatomy spin-off is in the works and ABC Network president Channing Dungey announced during the network's big Upfronts week presentation that the new show will focus on firefighters in a Seattle firehouse.

The characters of the new show, which is still untitled, will be introduced during Season 14 of Grey's Anatomy. It is not immediately known how this new show will be different from Chicago Fire, which is also about firefighters and paramedics working together to save lives.

"No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and 'Grey's' signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff," Dungey told the press.

Interestingly, this isn't the first Grey's Anatomy spin-off. Private Practice focused on Kate Walsh's character Addison Montgomery as she moved to Los Angeles to work at a new practice. The show ran on ABC for six seasons.

Grey's Anatomy is still a widely popular drama on ABC and it continues to enjoy good ratings. A good number of fans believed the drama would suffer when Shonda Rhimes decided to kill off its main character, Derek Shepherd. But the introduction of a new love interest for Meredith, and the focus on her personal growth helped keep fans hooked on to the medical drama.

Here are a few reactions from netizens on the Grey's Anatomy spin-off.
