The Season 12 finale of ABC's hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" saw Alex misinterpreting the situation between DeLuca and Jo and beating the newbie senseless, and it looks like this has landed Alex in a lot of legal trouble.

Because Alex misinterpreted the situation and beat DeLuca so badly, he's going to have a lot of legal consequences to deal with," actor Giacomo Gianniotti told The Hollywood Reporter.

The finale saw a drunk Jo opening up about her past to DeLuca and he accidentally tumbled into her bed just as Alex entered their house. The next season will pick up immediately following the events of the finale, and Jo will have an opportunity to finally come clean to Alex about being married. If she doesn't, then she might end up losing her boyfriend for good.

But DeLuca will have much more interaction with Alex as he is going to seriously consider making pediatrics his specialty. "He's a natural in pediatrics, even though he didn't really like to do it," Gianniotti said. "Alex and Andrew relate a lot together and last season was building toward DeLuca being inducted into working with pediatrics. With all the things that have happened with DeLuca and Alex and creating a workspace where the two of them are working together, that could be very tense after what's happened."

As for the other relationships on the show, the premier will also focus on the entire Maggie-Meredith situation, especially now that Maggie has announced her interest in Nathan, the guy her sister was hooking up with. "Meredith has Maggie still helping with the kids and they're going to have an interesting dynamic this year based on the whole Nathan love triangle," Caterina Scorsone told the publication.

Season 13 will also focus a lot on the original cast of the show, such as Bailey, Richard, Meredith and Alex, who have been a part of the series since Season 1.

"Grey's Anatomy" will return to ABC on Sept. 22.
