A confrontation between Jo and Meredith in the upcoming episode of "Grey's Anatomy" could spell trouble for Jo's relationship with Alex.

Jo has always been insecure of Meredith's unique relationship with Alex and things come to a head in the episode titled "Odd Man Out." A promo for the episode sees Jo shouting at Meredith to get her own boyfriend. She also tells Meredith to stop coming in between her relationship with Alex.
It remains to be seen how Meredith will react to the situation and online chatter suggests that fans aren't too happy with Jo's insecure nature.

As ardent fans of the ABC medical drama know, Alex and Meredith have been friends since the time they joined the hospital as interns. They have been through a lot together and have come to rely on each other over the years. If Jo's insecurity forces Alex to choose between his girlfriend and Meredith, it wouldn't be surprising if Alex picks his friend.

Actress Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith, told Cosmopolitan in an earlier interview that it would be interesting to explore why her character doesn't get along with Alex's girlfriend.

"Listen. I said the same thing to [creator Shonda Rhimes], because Meredith seemingly doesn't like Jo. And so I'm not really sure. Camilla and I have really struggled with how to be truthful in these scenes. Why do I not like her? Why am I so hard on her?"

"I never have thoughts about — well, I may have thoughts or opinions in my head, but they don't really matter. Let's say Meredith is going to wind up with Alex's character and I can't reconcile [that]. As difficult as that is for me to wrap my mind around, that would make it interesting if I had to do those scenes," Pompeo noted.

"Grey's Anatomy" is aired Thursdays on ABC.
