Just one more day to go before the new season of "Grey's Anatomy" airs, and new spoilers indicate that fan-favourite Arizona and Callie might have a lot of trouble ahead for them in the upcoming season.

The two have been on a bumpy road for most part of the previous season, and their problems are only set to escalate. If rumours doing the rounds are to be believed, the two will be forced to take stock of their relationship and where it is headed.

The season 10 finale saw them discussing the possibility of using a surrogate to expand their family, and the new season will pick up right from there.

"We left them talking about it and that's where we pick up with them talking about it," Jessica Capshaw told E! Online in an interview. "There's not much more than can happen to them that hasn't happened to them yet, but Shonda can think of something! So far it's been really interesting because so many of the things that I think didn't get dealt with in terms of the core part of their relationship is being dealt within the beginning of this season. It's up and it's down and it's all around."

Doubts have been cast on their marriage, whether it would survive, and showrunner Rhimes said in an earlier interview that there was a 50% chance that it might fall apart.

"I'll be honest with you and say that there is literally a 50/50 chance that they'll be together or apart, and I have not figured it out yet," Rhimes recently told Entertainment Weekly. "That is the other big storyline of the season for us. We really spent a lot of time in the writers' room mapping it out and talking about it."

Rhimes added that the focus will be on two parallel relationships - Meredith and Derek's relationship and Callie and Arizona's relationship. "Meredith's journey and Callie's journey are two big journeys that we really want to look at this season as we're telling these stories," she added.

Season 11 of Grey's Anatomy premieres on Thursday, 25 September on ABC. The first episode of the season is titled "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind."
