In the wake of Cristina's departure from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, Meredith is leaning on Alex for support, and this is going to drive a wedge in his relationship with Jo.
As Meredith and Alex are the last two remaining interns, their relationship is going to deepen and this will give rise to a lot of unexpected drama. Season 11 will pick up just 24 hours after the events of season 10 finale, which had Cristina leaving after giving away her shares in the hospital to Alex.
On Jo's reaction to Alex's good fortune, Camilla Luddington, who essays the role of Alex's love interest, told TVLine that she is all about Team Alex. However, it remains to be seen if he gets on the board, as not everyone is happy with the unexpected turn of events. Spoilers indicate that Bailey is not going to go down without a fight, as she feels she deserve a spot on the board.
As for his relationship with Meredith, it would be right to say that Jo is jealous. "I mean, if I was in that situation, I would have a fight about it because it's way too much. But of course, for [Alex and Mer] it's normal. He's the person that Meredith wants to talk to constantly and Jo's thinking, 'Where has my boyfriend gone?'" Luddington said.
"Meredith is leaning on Alex as her new 'person,' because Cristina's gone and he is the last remaining original intern. And — because I was trying to think back about this – I think Jo's never actually witnessed that relationship before and the depth of it and how, with all of that gang, there were kind of no boundaries. It was like a family," she added.
Episode one of season 11 is titled "I Must Have Lost on the Wind" and based on the synopsis, Meredith's relationship with her half sister will also become one of the highlights of the premiere. The first episode will feature a confrontation between the two, and things are going to get ugly.
It remains to be seen if Meredith will overcome her hatred and learn to love her half sister as she did with Lexie.
