The Grammy Awards 2012 held on Sunday started off with performance from Bruce Springsteen. Then the mood of the award function changed with the event host LL Cool J appearing in black and paiying tribute to singer Whitney Houston, who passed away on Saturday.

Soul singer Adele triumphed in her return to music's stage on Sunday, scooping up six Grammys and winning every category in which she was nominated including album of the year for "21" and best record with "Rolling In the Deep."

The night belonged to British singer Adele, who swept all the six nominations, including song of the year for her smash hit "Rolling in the Deep". The Foo Fighters captured five of the six categories they were nominated in.
