Director General (DG) of Corporate Affairs (CA) in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs BK Bansal and his son were found dead in their home in Madhu Vihar in Delhi on Tuesday, September 27.

Bansal, was arrested for corruption in July 2016 for an alleged bribery case of Rs. 9 lakh. Following Bansal's arrest, his wife Satyabala Bansal (aged 58) and Neha (aged 27) hanged themselves to death. They had both left similar suicide notes, which said that they were humiliated by the CBI raid in their apartment.

Following their death, CBI had issued a statement saying, "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the incident. Both the deceased were neither accused nor questioned or summoned in the ongoing investigation."

Although Bansal was granted a two-day interim bail after their death, a case was registered under the Corruption Act against the former bureaucrat who was caught trying to accept bribe for helping a pharmaceutical company evade tax liabilities. A special court had later granted him bail in August.

According to the CBI, Bansal had already accepted Rs. 11 lakh in bribe prior to this and was demanding the balance amount when he was caught red-handed outside a hotel in New Delhi. Following an investigation, the probe agency had also found that Bansal owns three properties in Delhi, three in Faridabad and one each in Gurgaon, Bhatinda and Hapur.

In totality, sleuths had found found Rs. 60 lakh cash, 20 property papers and details of 60 bank accounts in his apartment, which was  not in proportion with the income he earned.
