More iconic villains from Batman's DC universe will be introduced in season 3 of Gotham, especially with the number of monsters that escaped from Indian Hill.

Rumours are already rife about the arrival of baddies like Mad Hatter on the show in the episodes to come. Fans have also seen a return of villains like Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), but even with tough competition from all of them, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) remain the fan-favourites.

In fact, young Batman David Mazouz also seems to agree with this popular choice. Mazouz feels that the writers throw a different light on negative characters that make fans root for them and this is mostly evident for the villainous BFFs Riddler and Penguin.

"I think I speak for everybody when I say Robin Lord Taylor has killed it with the role. You're rooting for him. Even though he's a maniac killer murderer, you want him to win! That is wrong on so many levels but they [writers] do it in such a brilliant way," says Mazouz.

Regarding his other favourite villain, the young actor says, "It's the same with Cory Michael Smith [who plays Edward Nygma/the future Riddler]... When you first meet Edward Nygma in Gotham, he's a good guy. He's a forensics guy, he works at GCPD and he's a little weird, but he has no harmful intentions. You slowly see how the circumstances of life push him past the breaking point. I found it fascinating how that slowly burns into insanity."

You can watch new episodes of Gotham season 3 at 8pm (EST) on Mondays via Fox and at 10pm (IST) on Tuesdays via Zee Café.
