There is little to dislike about the comedy series "The Goldbergs", which revolves around a Jewish family in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. In fact, we won't be surprised if the Goldbergs are the nation's favourite Jewish family on television. "The Goldbergs", which was renewed by ABC for season 3, will be premiered on Wednesday, 23 September, and the promo promises plenty of family drama.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead.

Season 3 of "The Goldbergs" will explore Lainey and Barry's (Troy Gentile) relationship; Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Dana's young love, and to add a bit of surprise to the family mix, a new Pop Pop will debut this season.

"Forever" alum's Judd Hirsch will take over the role of Adam's grouchy paternal granddad, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The newest season of the comedy show, set in circa 1980s, will depict the three kids of the Goldbergs family who will battle newer, stranger adventures with Beverly (Wendy Mc Lendon-Covey), their overbearing mom, Murray (Jeff Garlin) their nonchalant dad and an enthusiastic Pops.

In season 2, Barry and Erica's (Hayley Orrantia) best friend, Lainey start dating and fans of the show would remember that their relationship is sailing pretty smoothly. Nevertheless, an ABC promo for season 3 suggests that Beverly might cause trouble.

Being the controlling mom that she is, Beverly helps Lainey by showing up at her party when things go awry. She sorts it out and Barry's girlfriend is thankful for a mother like figure in her life. But will she feel overwhelmed by Beverly in the long run? Will this affect her and Barry's relationship?

The plot of season 3 will also explore Adam and Dana's (Natalie Alyn Lind) relationship, and the trials and tribulations that complement long distance relationships. At the end of season 2, Dana tells Adam that she's moving away from Jenkintown for good. It remains to be seen if they can overcome the distance.

Show creator Adam F. Goldberg said that season 3 will explore his struggle with puberty and will most definitely include his Bar Mitzvah.

ABC's "The Goldbergs" is inspired and based on the show creator's family in 80s America. The show features real clips of a young Adam F.Goldberg and his family.

"The Goldbergs" season 3 will be telecast on Wednesday, 23 September at 8.30pm on ABC.
