Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has introduced a new budget Android smartphone Gionee P2 in India with a price tag of ₹ 6,499.

The smartphone has been pitted against devices of indigenous vendors like Micromax, Karbonn, Intex and Spice.

Gionee P2 sports a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels and is powered by 1.3GHz dual-core Cortex A7 MediaTek 6572 processor. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be further expanded by upto 32 GB with microSD card. It houses 5-megapixel rear camera LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera and comes with features like face detection, touch to focus, panorama, face beauty, gesture and smile shot.

On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The connectivity features of the handset include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, GPS and a Digital Compass. Other specifications of the phone include 1,700mAh battery, Light Sensor, Face Unlock and Game Zone. The handset will be available in black and white colour in the country.

Recently, Ginoee had launched Gionee Elife E6 in India. It packs 5-inch OGS (One-Glass-Solution) AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Other features of the handset include 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB internal storage, 2020mAh battery and Android 4.2 operating system with the Gionee's Amigo UI layer.
