Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, has a lot of reasons to hate Lena Headey's Cersei Lannister. But the actress feels her character could turn out to be someone like Cersei as the season progresses, as both of them have many similarities.

In a new interview with Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore, Turner called them both "so family-obsessed and family-oriented" and most of their decisions stem from the need to protect their respective families.

"I can totally see her becoming a Cersei and kind of driven mad by it, by the threats against her family," Turner said in the interview. "If that means becoming like a ruthless killer, leader, sadistic woman or evil lady, then so be it. I don't think it matters to her, and I can see Sansa swinging that way too."

Turner said she sympathised with Cersei, saying she does terrible things "because she's terrified of losing the people she loves."

It wouldn't be surprising if Sansa went the Cersei way, as the look that Sansa and Littlefinger exchanged at the end of the previous season hinted at something sinister brewing between the two.

In an earlier interview, Turner has said that Sansa might not take it too kindly that her efforts in reclaiming Winterfell weren't recognised, and that this might prompt her to team up with Littlefinger, who is known for his manipulative and cunning ways.

"She's not getting the credit she feels she deserves, that Littlefinger would grant her with," Turner told Variety. "He obviously wants her on the Iron Throne and him by her side – she doesn't want that, but she wants recognition for the effort that she put in, in order to claim back Winterfell, because if it wasn't for her, it wouldn't have happened. So I think she's seeing Littlefinger as a bit more trustworthy and more of an ally than she initially thought."

Game of Thrones Season 7 will return to HBO on July 16.
