While the first season was centered on the decade-long battle between the Hollywood golden age actors Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, the second season will deal with the split between Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

At an Emmy event, creator Ryan Murphy (who helmed American Horror Story and American Crime Story) dwelled on what exactly the audience could expect from the next season.

According to Deadline, he said: "The next one is about Charles and Diana. We are shooting I think in the late fall and I'm casting Charles and Diana."

"I think having a show called Feud is interesting because I love when Cathy (Zeta-Jones) says feuds are about pain," Murphy continued.

"So Charles and Diana's story literally begins with filing the divorce papers. It's about that pain of the dissolving of a fairytale, particularly for Diana. It starts with the filing of divorce papers and takes you up until her death."

The infamous divorce between Prince Charles and Princess Diana took place in 1996, a year before the Princess of Wales died in a car crash.

Talking about the actress who would play Princess Diana, Murphy said: "It's become like the Scarlett O'Hara of parts. Because there are so many women who want to play that part, and there are so many women who are physically right for it."

According to E! News, Murphy said, "I'm looking at both known and unknown. I'm reading unknowns and I'm also meeting very famous established British actresses. Everything, everybody."

The second season of Feud, which could be a 10-episode-series, is expected to air on FX in 2018.

Feud: Bette and Joan features Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange as warring actresses Bette Davis and Joan Crawford respectively, and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Olivia de Havilland.
