A woman in her mid twenties was allegedly drugged and then gang raped by her male friend and two of his friends in a moving car on Tuesday night in Delhi.
The 24-year-old victim, who is a daughter of Delhi Police woman constable, was found in a sedated condition late on Tuesday night by an autorikshaw driver. The driver informed the police about the girl, after which she was taken to a hospital where her medical examination confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.
"Seeing a girl is lying in an unconscious condition, an auto driver, who was passing through the area, immediately called up the police. Police took victim to a nearby hospital," PTI quoted a senior police official as saying.
After gaining consciousness, the victim told the police that the three men gave her soft drinks mixed with sedatives, and when she lost consciousness they gang raped her and thereafter threw her on the road near Nehru Place in South Delhi.
"Girl along with her male friend and his friend came out for a ride. On the way, they offered her soft drinks laced with sedatives. After drinking it, the girl fell unconscious," the officer added.
Police have registered a case against the accused and two of them have already been arrested. The case is further being investigated.
The incidents of sexual assaults continue to occur in the Indian capital, despite implementation of stricter laws.
