This Friday (6 June), two Tamil films and one Hindi film will be hitting the screens in Tamil Nadu.

Post the release of "Kochadaiiyaan" on 23 May, there were no big releases in Tamil Nadu. However, this Friday, three films - Vemal's "Manjapai", Prakash Raj's "Un Samayal Arayil", "Holiday – A solider is never off duty" ("Thuppakki" Remake), directed by AR Murugadoss - will be clashing at the box office.

"Manjapai"

"Manjapai," directed by debutant N Raghavan, deals with the boding shared by grandfather (Raj Kiran) and his grandson (Vemal). Lakshmi Menon appears in the role of a doctor in the family entertainer.

The film is carrying positive buzz and the advance booking is encouraging, reported Sify. It will be releasing in more than 225 screens across Tamil Nadu, which is the highest for a Vemal starrer.

"Manjapai" is produced by Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers.

"Un Samayal Arayil"

Prakash Raj's "Un Samayal Arayil" is a remake of the Malayalam film "Salt N'Pepper," which did well at the box office.

The film, a romantic comedy entertainer, is directed by Prakash Raj. It is about two couples who get to know about each other through their common love – food.

"Un Samayal Arayil" has Sneha, Urvashi, Tejus and Samyuktha Hornad in supporting roles and the music is scored by maestro Ilayaraja.

The film will be clashing with "Manjapai" at the box office from this Friday.

"Holiday- A soldier is Never Off Duty"

The Bollywood film, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, is a remake of Vijay's "Thuppakki."

The action thriller is directed by Murugadoss and produced by Akshay's home banner and Reliance Entertainment.

The film's story is about an army officer who tracks down a terrorist group and deactivates the sleeper cells while on a holiday in Mumbai.

The original version in Tamil starring Vijay – "Thuppakki"- was a big hit at the box office. It remains to be seen if the Hindi version will be able to impress the audience and strike gold at the box office.

"Holiday" is gearing up for a big release worldwide on 6 June and the film's hero Akshay Kumar will be having his biggest ever release in Chennai. According to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, "Holiday" will be hitting 22 screens in the city and its suburbs.

"#Holiday - Akshay Kumar's biggest ever release in Chennai city & suburbs (22 screens). Gets largest screens in 'Plexes @ARMurugadoss power," Pillai tweeted.

The action flick is carrying a lot of positive buzz in bollywood circles. Since it is a remake of a Tamil blockbuster film, it is expected to pull crowds to theatres in Tamil Nadu. The Akshay Kumar starrer is likely to take a good opening in its first weekend.
