Betsy Palmer, the veteran character actress who is known for her role as Pamela Voorhees in Sean S Cunningham's horror movie "Friday the 13th", died due to natural causes in a hospital in Connecticut on Sunday, 31 May (EST).

The celeb's manager, Brad Lemack, informed the world about her demise through The Associated Press, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Born in 1926 as the daughter of industrial chemist Rudolph Vincent Hrunek and businesswoman Marie in East Chicago, Indiana, Palmer began her journey through the world of entertainment during her graduation in theatre at DePaul University. She had been part of the entertainment world for more than half a century with 18 big screen projects and almost 73 television shows.

The actress made her first onscreen appearance through a daily soap opera, "Miss Susan", in 1951. Later, she rose to fame through the quiz show, "I've Got a Secret". She was a panelist of the programme for 10 years, from 1958 to 1967.

Although Palmer is popularly known for her role in "Friday the 13th", she was not very keen to take up the project. In an interview, the actress had revealed that she had accepted the role to buy a car.

"My agent called and said, 'How would you like to be in a movie? I said, 'Great, I haven't done a movie since the 1960s.' [...] He said, 'It's 10 days' work, they'll pay you $1,000 a day.' I said, 'Great, I want to buy a car. It'll just cover the car. Oh, perfect.' He said, 'There's a drawback.' I said, 'What's that?' He said, 'It's a horror film.' I said, Oh, no," she said.

Meanwhile, the celeb also stated that her initial reaction about the movie was, "What a piece of shit! Nobody is ever going to see this thing. What an awful thing this is," according to Movie web.

However, Palmer fans across the globe were shocked to know about her demise and many of them sent their condolences through Twitter:
