Delhi Police arrested four juveniles for raping their 16-year-old classmate in Bawana Area on Monday.

The accused, aged between 16 and 17 years, had lured the girl into an empty house and sexually assaulted her. They threatened her if she informed anybody about the incident.

"The victim told her parents about the incident, who then reported it to the village panchayat (council). The panchayat decided to report the matter to the police," a senior officer told Hindustan Times.

Police sources said that one of the accused had committed the crime while the rest were spectators.

All four were booked under the same charges, since none of the three had protested when the girl was assaulted. Medical tests confirmed that she was raped.

Authorities had chased down the boys, who had gone into hiding since the incident was reported.

Police have sent all the four accused to the juvenile justice home after booking them under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 354-A (molestation), 376-D (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to IBNLive, the accused and the victim went to the same private school and resided in the same neighbourhood.

Only last month, a seven-year-old girl was raped in a Municipal school in Mongolpuri area. Authorities are yet to nab the accused.
