Tamil Nadu police, on Wedenesday, 3 September, arrested four persons in connection with the murder and beheading of two brothers in Cuddalore district.

Two dalit brothers, Ambulance Kumar, 40, and Rajesh, 30, were hacked to death in Annamalai Nagar of Chidambaram town in the early hours of Tuesday.

"We have arrested four persons and further investigation is on, we are looking into several aspects," PTI quoted Cuddalore District Superintendent of Police A Radhika.

Police suspect that the murders are committed by a rival gang in the same area. The four held, all in their twenties, are identified as M Gajendran, M Venkatesan, E Sivamani and P Pattabiraman.

After beheading, the killers took away the heads of the victims and kicked them around before throwing them on either side of the hospital's entrance.

Local residents including relatives of the deceased chased the killers, but they threw crude bombs at the victims' house and escaped.

An investigation by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been sought by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a local dalit political group. Katchi stated further that it would initiate judicial steps for a CBI investigation, if the state government did not press for a CBI probe.
