Ford will recall its newly-launched EcoSport diesel in India to fix the problem with the glow plug module, the US-based auto major said on Thursday.

The EcoSport SUV is just a few days old in the domestic market and the recall comes at a time when the bookings for the vehicle are at a peak. The company will recall around 972 units of the diesel variant of EcoSport which are affected. It has maintained that the problem has been identified during the routine check of the vehicle and has not received any complaints on the same. The recall is said to be a voluntary move by the company to avoid any potential harm for the owners.

"As part of routine checks, we discovered a potential concern with EcoSport diesel variants related to the Glow Plug Module which requires relocating the module. We are contacting customers to take their vehicle to their Ford dealership to have the work carried out," Ford India said in a statement.

The company will contact owners of the diesel EcoSport variant for the repair which will be done free of cost.

The popular-selling  EcoSport SUV which was launched in the country on 26 June has received more than 10,000 bookings so far. The company started shipments a few days back and has delivered 972 units of diesel models so far. It is not sure whether the recall will affect the sales of the vehicles in the coming future.
