While several car-makers have increased the prices of their cars post the budget proposal of an infrastructure tax, Ford India, on the contrary, has reduced the prices for its EcoSport compact SUV in the country.
The American auto company has cut the prices in the range of Rs 53,700 to Rs 1,12,300 with immediate effect. The deduction in price is applicable to the entire trim level and the difference of prices depends on the variants. As per the new announcement, now the compact SUV would cost Rs 6,68,800 for the petrol variants and Rs 7,28,800 for the diesel variants, ex-showroom Delhi.
"Ford EcoSport was the first to create a new compact SUV segment. With enhanced value for money proposition, we are extending its appeal across segments, including Rs 6 lakh to 8 lakh price band which has been growing at 40 percent since 2013," said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director marketing, sales and service at Ford India, in a statement.
The sudden rearrangement of the prices comes soon after Maruti Suzuki launched the Vitara Brezza compact SUV at competitive prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. With the change in price, the top-spec 1.5-litre diesel Titanium+ trim now costs Rs 9.75 lakh that goes up against the top-spec Vitara Brezza variant, which is priced at Rs 9.68 lakh in Delhi.
The Ecosport that got a minor facelift in October 2015 features 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine, which is retuned to dish out 99bhp of power. The 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol and the 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engines continue as it is.
