The second season of popular anime "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma" titled "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Second Plate" is all set to premiere on July 2, as reported by Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
Fans are eagerly looking forward to the next instalment of the series since a teaser image from "The Second Plate" has been revealed on the anime's official website.
As reported by Yibada, The entire original cast from Season 1 will reprise their respective roles, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Risa Taneda, Minami Takahashi, Junichi Suwabe, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Natsuki Hanae, Saori Onishi and Chinatsu Akasaki, in the forthcoming season.
Besides the original cast, Japanese voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto has also joined the series. Yasumoto is known for his role as Agil in "Sword Art Online" and will voice Subaru Mimasaka in Season 2. Mimasaka is a 92nd Totsuki Generation student who hails from TÅtsuki Culinary Academy.
Mimaska is popularly known as King of Stalkers in the series as after carefully observing his rivals' cooking styles and technique, he incorporates those methods in his own recipes and come out with a better version of his rivals' dishes.
His habit of making such dishes has given Mimasaka an all-rounder 99-win streak. However, since he has challenged the protagonist of the series, Soma Yukihira in a Shokugeki battle, the tables might turn for him.
Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, "The Second Plate" will emphasise mostly on the journey of Soma as he works hard to enhance his cooking techniques and add more innovative and unique styles to it.
Recently, Warner Bros. Japan posted a latest 15-second commercial for "The Second Plate." Fans can get a glimpse of the second season's opening theme titled "Rough Diamonds" in the commercial. According to Crunchy Roll, the theme has been performed by SCREEN mode.
