Bargarh, Aug 10 (ANI): Official in Odisha said that water level of flooded Mahanadi river has receded even though the death toll reached 37. However, the flood situation in Bargarh district remained grim as the back water of Hirakud dam entered five villages. The district administration has evacuated 1300 people from these villages. Meanwhile, Special Relief Commissioner, Pradipta Mahapatra, said there will be very little rainfall in catchment area of Mahanadi river and they have reduced the number of gates to 24 in the reservoir. People have died in Odisha since rivers burst their banks, inundating villages and farmland and forcing around 60,000 people to seek refuge in relief camps. Mahapatra also added 37 people have died due to floods and free kitchen service is being provided to people in the relief camps.
