India's largest online retailer, Flipkart, said that it has already sold 10 lakh products in the first 10 hours of 'The Big Billion Days' sale launched on 13 October.

Currently, 25 items are being sold on Flipkart per second, with six million people visiting the website, according to a press release by the company. "The Big Billion Days have started off with a bang this year. We have sold 1 million units already and expect to do a higher number by the end of today's fashion sale," The Economics Times quoted Mukesh Bansal, head of commerce platform at Flipkart, as saying.

"It is great to see 1.6 million app installs in the last two days, which is a great indicator that India has been preparing well for The Big Billion Days," Bansal added.

Flipkart is seeing highest traffic from Bengaluru, Delhi and Chennai among metros. Ludhiana, Lucknow and Bhopal are among other cities that are generating highest traffic in the ongoing festive offer sale.

Footwear, men's clothing and accessories have witnessed heavy sales so far.
