Suriya's much-awaited "Singam 2" is all set to hit the theatres on 5 July. "Singam 2", a sequel to "Singam", is riding high on expectations thanks to the popularity of the franchise as well as Suriya's presence.
As earlier reported, the sequel is about Indian cop Dorai Singam who is on a mission to take on crimes overseas. "I had the idea of a sequel when the original was being made. The movie begins in the southern most part of India and ends in South Africa. 'Singam 2' will showcase an authentic Indian cop on a mission," the film's director Hari once told a leading daily.
The sequel has been made after a span of three years when "Singam" was released. Some of the pivotal characters played by Anushka Shetty, Vivek and Vijayakumar have been retained in the sequel. In addition, new actors have joined the "Singam 2" team including Santhanam, Hansika Motwani, Radha Ravi, Manorama and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani.
After a long wait, Suriya's fans will witness him back in action. "Singam 2" will have a grand release worldwide. The Tamil and the Telugu version titled "Singam - Yamudu 2" will hit theatres on 5 July. The Hindi dubbed version will be released on 12 July.
"Singam 2" has received a clean "U" certificate and is likely to entertain the family audience just like the original.
What to expect?
Suriya and director Hari have teamed up for the fourth time after "Aaru", "Vel" and "Singam". All these films are commercial potboilers and were received well by the audience. The trailer of "Singam 2" has generated a lot of buzz among film buffs. The trailer reminds us that the sequel will be racy with chases and high-octane stunt sequences.
According to the film's cinematographer Priyan, "Singam 2" will be twice as racy as the prequel. Priyan also revealed that the film will be more plot driven than "Singam" which had more space for songs.
Comedian Vivek's part in "Singam" was a laugh riot. As a police officer (Yettu Elumalai), Vivek's funny moments and hilarious dialogues were important highlights of the film. In "Singam 2", the ace comedian has popular actor Santhanam for company. Santhanam, who is riding high on the success of his films, is best known for his one-liners. This is the first time that Vivek and Santhanam are teaming up in a film. Apparently, both the actors will have two different comedy tracks.
Hansika Motwani, fresh from the success of her recently-released film "Theeya Velai Seiyanum Kumaru", will be next seen in the Suriya starrer. It is not clear as to what role will Hansika play in the film.
If Prakash Raj was the baddie in "Singam", director Hari has introduced an international criminal in the sequel. Hollywood actor Danny Sapani will be the main villain in "Singam 2". Hari has shot a prominent fight sequence with Suriya and Danny in South Africa.
