Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car-maker by volume, remained triumphant in the passenger car sales for February 2016, with its four vehicles remaining at the top of the best-selling cars list. In total, six Maruti Suzuki models made to the top ten best-selling passenger cars list. The new entry from Maruti Suzuki is the Ciaz sedan, while Celerio hatchback found its way out of the list.

According to the details by ET Auto, the first four spots were sealed by Maruti Suzuki's Alto hatchback, Swift Dzire sedan, Swift hatchback and WagonR. The Alto remained on the top with 21,286 units sales in February. However, the sales of the car saw a sharp decline by 17 percent in comparison to the 25,673 units sold in February 2015.

The Swift Dzire found 17,410 takers in the month, registering a two percent growth over the 17,085 units sold in February last year. The Swift, which saw a decline in sales after the launch of Beleno hatchback in October 2015, was at the third spot with 15,475 units sales. The Swift registered 21 percent decline against the 19,546 units sold in the corresponding month in 2015. The WagonR remained at the fourth sport with 14,209 sales, with a minimal one percent drop over the 14,315 units sold in February 2015.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd's (HMIL) Grand i10 and Elite i20 found the fifth and six places in the list. The former found 8,898 takers with two percent growth, while the latter found 8,419 buyers, which is an 18 percent drop from the corresponding month last year.

Renault India's game changer, the Kwid, secured the seventh spot with 7,544 units sold, while Maruti Suzuki's new hatchback, the Baleno, found 6,888 takers in February 2016. The remaining two spots were sealed by Hyundai Eon with 5,539 units sales and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz with 5,162 units sales during the last month.

It was, however, surprising to see that none of the best-selling SUVs could make it to the top ten best-selling passenger cars list.
