India have always been a brilliant batting side, and the bowlers have been improving in leaps and bounds. But, the standard of Indian fielding in the last couple of years has evolved to impressive levels as well.

This transformation was on show during the first innings of the Champions Trophy match between India and South Africa at the Oval on Sunday. South Africa openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock were cautious in their approach, and the Proteas were under pressure in the mid stages of the game after their dismissal.

Faf Du Plessis was in the thick of things during his stay at the crease. Though he looked good in the middle, scoring runs in singles, it was his running between the wickets which bagged headlines.

The South African player was involved in two  run-outs. First it was the wicket of skipper AB De Villiers, who had to respond to Du Plessis' call for a single, and even ABD's dive did not save him. To be fair, the single was not there for the taking.

One also have to give credit to Hardik Pandya as he was swift on the ball and threw it quickly for Dhoni to use his quick hands to remove the bails.

That was not the end of it, as Du Plessis was involved in a major mix-up with new man David Miller in the next over. Both men were at the batting crease, which explains the massive misunderstanding. In this case too, Du Plessis was the major culprit.

Eventually, South Africa were all out for 191 runs. Ironically, the last wicket of Imran Tahir was also a run-out in the 45th over.

These run-outs might have not have been directly related to India's fielding during the game on Sunday, but it is the name that these Indian fielders are creating for themselves. With India being quick on the turf, opponents think twice before taking a run, which seems to create confusion between the players, and India is placed well to take full advantage of that.
