Dharamsala, Feb 14 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans celebrated their Independence Day in Dharamsala, highlighting the national flag which is one of the most recognisable symbols of independent past. On February 13, 1913 the 13th Dalai Lama reasserted Tibetan independence in the declaration of the Proclamation of Independence. Tibetans and their supporters proudly raised the national flag in 30 cities around the world to celebrate the independent past and to challenge China’s propaganda about their history. The Dalai Lama, who fled to India after a failed uprising in 1959, says he simply wants genuine autonomy for Tibet, and denies espousing violence.
