There were reports that Amala Paul and AL Vijay's marriage is in trouble and that the couple is heading for divorce. Now, multiple sources have confirmed to International Business Times India that they have decided to part ways on a mutual consent.

Sources told IBTimes India that the couple, who got married in a star-studded function on June 12, 2014, is expected to announce their divorce in a couple of days. The differences in their lifestyles and compatibility issues have been cited as the major reason behind their decision to end two-year old marriage.

The latest news has brought a shock to the entire film fraternity as the couple, who had worked together in "Deiva Thirumagal" and "Thalaivaa," had got married after dating for three years.

It has to be noted that Amala, who used to post a lot of pictures with her hubby on her Facebook page, has refrained from posting any photos of them together for quite some time now. Also, the "Madrasapattinam" director was not spotted with his wife for the recent award shows and other functions.

Amala and Vijay exchanged vows in a traditional 'Chettiyar' wedding style in Chennai in the presence of their friends and family. They got engaged on June 7 as per Christian customs in Aluva where Amala was brought up. The ceremony had ignited controversies after a section of the Christian community members criticised church authorities for permitting a celebrity to get engaged in a church even when she was getting married as per Hindu rituals.

On the acting career front, Amala was recently seen in "2 Penkuttikal," "Amma Kanakku," and "Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum". The actress will be next seen Kiccha Sudeep-starrer "Hebbuli" and Dhanush and Vijay Sethupathi's "Vada Chennai." Meanwhile, director Vijay is awaiting the release of his multi-lingual horror thriller "Abhinetri" (Devi(L) in Tamil.
