The biggest highlight so far this calendar year for Eugenie Bouchard has undoubtedly been her thrilling win over Maria Sharapova. The Canadian tennis hotstar thereafter secured a complete one-sided win against Angelique Kerber. Shameful that Kerber had to forfeit the match right at the death, raising questions about her integrity.

Kerber's miserable run has continued as she was shown the exit door in the French Open 2017 in the first round itself by Ekaterina Makarova. Genie Bouchard's journey, meanwhile, in Roland Garros 2017, starts on Tuesday, May 30.

She takes a lesser-known Japanese opponent in Risa Ozaki at Court 2.

The battle of the 23-year-olds has so far resulted in a 1-0 record in favour of Bouchard. Judging by the current form and experience in Grand Slam competitions, the Canadian is definitely favourite against Ozaki, who is making her debut in the French Open main draw this year.

Genie, however, needs to be aware that Ozaki has achieved her career-best singles ranking of #70 in April 2017, and is definitely enjoying the brightest moment of her career, much like Genie enjoyed during the 2014 season, when she went on to become a Wimbledon finalist.
