Malkangiri, Oct 9 (ANI): Eleven Maoists, including a woman cadre, surrendered after a brief encounter with the police in Malkangiri district of Odisha. A surrendered Maoist said that they had joined the ultras under a misconception and left after being abused by them. Superintendent of Police, Pramod Kumar Bag said eleven members had surrendered. Over 50 Maoists have surrendered in the area in last four months as they had enough of ill treatment at the hands of their superiors. The rebels, also known as Naxals, have fought for decades in a wide swathe of central and Eastern India, including many resource-rich regions where tensions run high between poor farmers and industrial developers.
