After the leap in Zee TV's period love-drama "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani," which marked the exit of Ranaji (Siddhant Karnick) and Gayatri (Drashti Dhami), the show is all set to take another time jump in quick succession. The second leap in the storyline is expected to take place in mid-June, after which the story will essentially revolve around grown-up Raja and Rani.

Recently, there were reports that Sarrtaj Gill, who rose to popularity as Priyom Thakur on &TV's "Begusarai" had reportedly been approached to play the lead role of Raja.

While speculations were doing the rounds regarding the actress who will essay the role of Rani, according to latest reports, Disha Parmar of "Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara" fame or "Tu Mera Hero" actress Sonia Balani is likely to be finalised for the role. The actresses have already taken the screen tests. Earlier, there were reports that Drashti was likely to return to the show as grown-up child of Gayatri and Ranaji.

"The production house is keen on these two talented actors who also have a great fan following. Though Disha and Sonia both have performed excellently in the auditions, Sonia seems to have a better chance to bag the coveted role. The character of Rani will be a positive one, on the likes of her mother, Gayatri (Drashti Dhami)," a source told Tellychakkar.com.

Meanwhile, the show is currently revolving around Gayatri and Ranaji's (Siddhant Karnick) daughter Rani, played by child artiste Mahima Joshi, and Raja, played by Sagar Hingonia.
