Two brutal rapes and murders were reported from Egypt this week, with one of the victims as young as two while the other being 80 years old.

In an appalling crime, a man raped his granddaughter as her mother slept, and, shockingly, the mother killed the girl by drowning her to avoid any scandal.

The incident took place in a conservative area in Sohag town in Egypt, Emirates 24/7 News reported citing Egyptian newspapers.

The 59-year-old man reportedly took the two-year-old girl out of her mother's room and raped her. When the mother discovered the crime, she allegedly drowned her daughter in a bucket of water, the report said.

In another ghastly crime in Egypt that earned the perpetrator a death sentence, an 80-year-old woman was raped until she died in Nimr city.

A 25-year-old man broke into the elderly woman's house and assaulted her with an iron rod, after which he reportedly forced her to wear lingerie and then raped her, Al Youm Al Sabea'a newspaper reported.

The man chained the victim's hands and legs before raping her.

The rapist was punished with a death sentence by the North Cairo Criminal Court.

While the reports of the crimes came out this week, it is not clear when they took place.
