Dragon Ball Super gets a new poster possibly showcasing its new villain.toei-anim.co.jp

Toei Animation recenly posted a promotional image that showcased some known as well as unknown characters. It got the ardent fans surprised as well as excited.

However, the names of these two new characters were a mystery. Thanks to Livedoor News, a Japanese website, the name of one of the characters, who looked like a fatter version of Beerus, has now been revealed. It has emerged that the name of the character is Shanpa.

The promotional image shows Shanpa wearing a pinkish red pants with purple colours. It was seen as spinning the earth on its index finger. It also carried a mischievous grin.

The new name sounds like Champa or Shumpa, with fans calling it Champ too. It has been reported the word could be a pun on the word champagne. It has been speculated that Shanpa could be changed when it reaches the western audience as was the case with Beerus, which was called Birusu in Japanese.

Moreover, fans will be happy to learn that Toei Animation has confirmed via its listings that Dragon Ball Super will have 100 episodes in its action/adventure series. It will be aired on 5 July, Fuji TV.

It also carried a description that read:

"After meeting with the God of Destruction Beerus, awakened from a very long sleep, and after the Resurrection of Frieza, a more mysterious character comes to disturb the peace on Earth in this new Dragon Ball series."

There is no information of the English-dubbed version of Dragon Ball Super or when it might release.

Akira Toriyma's Message

One of the main reasons that got many Dragon Ball fans excited in the first place with this anime TV series was the fact that Dragon Ball Super will be directed and penned by Akira Toriyama.

Toriyam has since claimed that this series will be comic, similar to the "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" movies.

Here is a message that was recently available in the latest issue of V-Jump magazine (Attack of the Fanboy):

"You know, it's only now that I realize that the anime Dragon Ball has really become something big enough. As it is I who designed the universe, it's a little weird to say this, but when I started, I never dreamed that history can take us into space. (laughs)"

"But do not worry, it's still some kind of things easy to understand as always. Do not miss Dragon Ball Super TV!"
