"Dragon Ball Super," the popular anime TV show from Toei Animation, aired episode 48 titled "HOPE!! Again - Trunks Wakes Up in the Present!" on June 19, exclusively on Japanese Fuji TV.

Following the end of the Champa saga in episode 41, the publisher released several episodes that acted as fillers until the dawn of a new saga, the Future Trunks, in episode 47.

In episode 47, we see Future Trunks is followed by a dark villain, and an explosion kills Future Bulma with Mai, the only companion for Trunks. The world of the future is one that is filled with ruins.

Trunks meets Mai and tells her that they have a chance to get back (the juice in the Time machine has enough to take them back). The reason why Trunks is running form the dark figure is that this villain is able to read his Ki.

The episode flashbacks to the present only to show King Zeno terminating six of the 18 Dragon Ball universes.

As the episode transports to the future, we see Future Trunks trying to defend against the dark figure, though the villain breaks his sword and the brave Mai comes to the rescue by shooting at the mysterious figure, only that the bullets from her shotgun revert to attack her. Future Mai dies in seconds. At this point, the black figure unmasks and resembles Goku. The episode ends when the black figure (Black Goku) threatens him with death.

The new episode 48 shows Future Trunks mourning Bulma's, who is his mother, and Mai's death. These deaths propel him to power up to Super Saiyan.

Future Trunks using his new stage fights the Black Goku who is seen constantly mumbling that he intends to end the Saiyan race, which according to the review report from Attack of the Fanboy points to the fact that he is not a Saiyan at all.

Trunks is able to ward off Black Goku for sometime using laser blasts. He then escapes from the black figure and head to the time machine, even as it tries to grab him. But luckily, he manages to escape and is transported to the present.

In the present, we see Kid Trunks in his school with other kids like Pilaf, Mai and Shu. And suddenly, the time machine appears with the Future Trunks in it.

Kid Trunks is astounded by the Future Trunks in the time machine. Bulma is asked to come by to ascertain certain things. The time machine has the "hope" symbol on it.

We see Pilaf and Kid Trunks freak out for different reasons. Pilaf thinks that the Future Trunks is the older brother of Kid Trunks and Kid Trunks because the one from the future has same name as him.

Kid Trunks needs to power up his Ki to let Goku use his instant transmission technique. Vegeta is with Goku training with Whis and Beerus.

However, the message has reached Goku and Vegeta, intrigued, even Whis and Beerus join them on their journey to Earth.

The episode cuts to the future, we see the Black Goku is hell bent on finding Future Trunks, which means that there is more fight to come.

A sensu bean is given to Future Goku so that he heals after the fight left him exhausted. He wakes up to find Goku, which only reminds him of Black Goku. The Future Goku attacks real Goku, which the latter quickly blocks, marking the end of the episode.

Meanwhile, Toei Animation shared the preview of episode 49, titled "A Message from the Future - Goku Black Invades!"

The next episode is expected to continue the Future Trunks saga, even as we hear Goku saying that he thought the future is at peace and he asks if Black Goku is as powerful as him. But sadly the Black Goku found itself a way to come to the present. Episode 49 will probably feature a big fight with Goku, Vegeta, Whis and Beerus in attendance.

"Dragon Ball Super's" episode 49 is expected to be released on June 26.
